The building that sank partly into the sand dune was built on the northern coast of the island of Terschelling, Netherlands. The dune house was designed by Marc Koehler Architects and completed in 2015. This unique house offers breathtaking panoramas of the North Sea.
The design of this house is very contextual where every detail is carefully thought out. Each material is selected from the environment and translated in a construction method using a modular prefabricated wood panel to ensure a very environmentally friendly design.
The loft like house creates a walk in the dune experience with its interior design. Every room in the house has an interesting spatial and visual relationship. Views of the hill can also be achieved through large rectangular windows contained on the walls and sloping roofs.
